Bless the Ballot Week 3: Phone Banking for the defenseless

Isaiah 1:17

Say no to wrong.  Learn to do good. Work for justice. Help the down-and-out. Stand up for the homeless. Go to bat for the defenseless.

The phrase “go to bat for the defenseless” really resonated with us this week. In our lives we can try to find ways to stand up for the homeless and defenseless, but it is also important that we fight for the Least of These collectively through our policies. At Forefront, we regularly talk about coming together in unity to make an impact, and one way that we can push that change forward is through Phone Banking.

Through phone banking we can actually speak one on one with individuals about the policies that we believe in. Person to person communication can make an impact at times where blanket policy statements fail. When we are on the phone with someone directly, it can be a way to tell our story through an intrapersonal connection and encourages a collective mentality for standing up for the impoverished.

As a Justice team we are excited to phone bank and talk about it in our accountability groups. If you would like to find out more about phone banking click here.

If you are interested in phone banking but would rather do so with a virtual group. Email the Justice League (justice@forefrontnyc.com) for our phone banking times and for a full list of phone banking resources.
