Building Bridges: The Church and the LGBTQ Community

As Forefront Church continues to see lives renewed and restored through Jesus, we recognize this is best accomplished through the medium of conversation that seeks to, as St. Francis said, “understand, rather than to be understood.”

To continue work towards this goal, Forefront Church welcomes author Justin Lee to join the FCQ series on Thursday, Nov. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m., at Roulette, located at 509 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217.

Lee’s organization, the Gay Christian Network, is dedicated to building bridges across the divide between the church and culture as they both wrestle with questions regarding LGBTQ relationships.

Purchase your $10 tickets here. Seating is limited, so reserve your seats early!

For more information about Justin Lee and his book Torn, please visit https://www.gaychristian.net/staff.php

Good Sense 1.0

Home economics: you may recall this class during sophomore year of high school. Despite its name, you probably did not learn about managing your personal finances, managing your credit balances, and saving for retirement. As a result, many of us have had to learn on our own, oftentimes making many mistakes along the way.

Luckily for you, Forefront is hosting another Good Sense 1.0 course that will teach even the most sophisticated financiers a more balanced approach to living in New York City without sacrificing your financial well-being.

For more information and success stories, please visit forefrontnyc.com/goodsense.

A WEEKEND OF SERVING OUR CITY

On October 3rd and 4th we are dedicating an entire weekend to serving our city. Instead of gathering for church, we are going to “be the church” as we go beyond the walls of our community and demonstrate the love of God to our neighbors in practical ways.

Sunday services at both Forefront locations will be cancelled on October 4th.

Click here to view and sign up for service opportunities on October 3rd and 4th.

If you have questions about serving, please email Brooklyn Associate Pastor Jennifer Fisher at jennifer@forefrontnyc.com.

Race & Religion: Creating Racial Harmony in the Church

What if all of the conflict surrounding race in America is a catalyst for bridge-building voices to finally emerge and bring people together? What’s missing from the conversation and how do we, as peace-making voices, engage the community that we live in, work in, and talk about on social media?

Join Nikki Lerner for a fresh conversation on what is the next step towards engagement and peace in our times on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Forefront Church office located at 928 Broadway St., Suite 404. You’re encouraged to come open and ready to be challenged!

Purchase your $10 tickets here. Seating is limited, so reserve your seats early!

Lerner is a songwriter, speaker, worship leader, coach and co-author of Worship Together: In Your Church As In Heaven.  She currently serves as the Worship Director at Bridgeway Community Church, a intentionally multicultural church serving over 4,000 people each week, located in Columbia, Maryland. Sex, Drugs, & Violence Through the Lenses of Science and Faith

Let's be honest, Christianity's response to the topics of sex, addiction, and violence can come off as misguided and antiquated. Recognizing that we don't have clear-cut answers about such things can leave us feeling unsure.

Spiritual skeptic “Science" Mike McHargue will address these topics through a science and faith approach on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Engleman Auditorium located in Manhattan, NYC.

Tickets are $10, and can be reserved here. Seating is limited, so reserve your tickets today!
